Music Classes

Music Fundamentals
This course is intended to give the student basic skills for reading and writing music. The class will familiarize the student with notes, rhythms, scales, chords and other musical fundamentals.
 

Advanced Music Theory
This course is a continuation of Music Fundamentals.  More advanced musical techniques will be explored through drill, analysis and composition.
 

Bach to Rock
This course is a study of the history of music from its origins to the present. It will acquaint the student with a wide variety of musical styles including classical, jazz, and rock.
 

Music Technology
This course addresses three major areas relating to computer use in music: sequencing, notation, and accompaniment. Students are introduced to computer hardware and software required to compose, arrange, and publish music.
 

Instrumental
Students refine their instrumental skills through a variety of performance experiences ranging from solos to small ensembles. Also provides the opportunity to learn/relearn a band instrument.
 

Introduction to Piano
The student applies the music fundamentals acquired in Music Theory to the piano.  Finger dexterity and music reading will be stressed.
 

Intermediate Piano
The student will continue the techniques acquired in Introduction to Piano.  Scales and solo literature will be introduced.
 

Introduction to Guitar
The student applies the music fundamentals acquired in Music Theory to the guitar.  Finger dexterity and music reading will be stressed.
 

Intermediate Guitar
The student will be exposed to barre chords, classical technique, scales, blues, and a variety of strumming and picking patterns.
